I watched Gabe Pruitt and Nick Young team play at 11am and Jeff McMillian at 2pm.

Nick Young

Young really had a good first half offensively. He was scoring inside and outside and able to break down his defender at will. The only thing you could be critical of him in the first half was he missed a dunk off a nice dish from Pruitt when Nick back rimmed the dunk and after about 4 good move to get by defenders he blew a layup. Besides that he dunked on people, hit mid range jumpers, hit an NBA 3 as well has throwing a couple of nice passes that led to hoops. He came out in the 2nd half and started to settle for his jump shot too much. He started taking a couple of NBA 3's that weren't falling and got out of his game for a little bit. He also got into foul trouble and ended up sitting a lot of the 4th quarter. Defensively he needs some work not going for the intial move by the offensive player, but he has the athleticism to recover quickly. Not sure how he doesn't start next year.

23 pts, 10 of 18 field goals, 2 of 4 free throws, 1 of 5 three point field goals, 23 minutes

Gabe Pruitt

Gabe played a little better than last week, but he still doesn't seem comfortable. A big part of that is that he is playing a lot on the wing with ball hog Joe Frazier of CSUN controlling the ball at the point. When Gabe was successful in the game he was running the point able in transition was able to break down his defenders and finish. His shot also hasn't got on track this summer. He did hit a step back 3 in the 2nd half, but he isn't shooting the ball with a lot of confidence and appears to be getting frustrated. He has the potential to be a lock down defender at the next level with his long arms and body control. He doesn't reach a lot and make it tough for players to get by him and shoot over him.

10 pts, 3 of 8 field goals, 3 of 4 free throws, 1 of 2 three point field goals, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 19 minutes

Jeff McMilian

Last weekend Jeff had a perfect game shooting 9 fo 9 from the field, so he was due for an off day and he had one on Saturday. He struggled to get into any type of rhythm offensively and wasn't a big factor in the game. It was a game dominated by guards, like most Pro city games are, and it wasn't until the third quarter when Jeff started to resemble last year's Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year. He scored 7 of his 14 in the 3rd quarter, but he missed a couple of shots in the 4th that would of brought his team back in the game.

14 pts, 5 of 13 field goals, 4 of 6 free throws, 9 rebounds

Notes:

* Roy Smiley, Gregg Guenther showed up to watch Jeff McMillian play. They brought along a special guest. Freshman Emanuel Willis. Willis looked at least an inch to inch and a half shorter than Gregg. It appears Willis will join the Young Guns team with Gabe Pruitt and Nick Young. If he does he will play Sunday at 6:40pm. Smiley appeared to be moving well after his surgery he had about two months ago.

* Gabe Pruitt's family were there and his dad had his SC cap on.

* Rory O'Neil scored 15 points on 6 of 13 from the field to go along with 5 rebounds and 4 blocks on Friday night.

* Gabe and Nick need to develop some chemistry on the floor as they will be the future of USC basketball. Hopefully that will come in time.
